At the end of 2019 our energetic three year old daughter, Izzy, had an elective surgery  to remove a cyst outside of her liver. Unfortunately, there were substantial life changing complications, sepsis and a late night emergency surgery resulting in recurrent infections. Our warrior princess began navigating her challenging health journey as the COVID pandemic began. She ultimately was diagnosed with end-stage liver disease and was listed for liver transplant. Never discouraged, always smiling and laughing our dear Isabella taught us what strength was and in the darkest moments would come up with the brightest and wisest sayings to keep us steadfast. Despite all odds, we had no match within our immediate or extended family and had to reach out publicly to save her life.

 

In one of a number of miracles a friend matched and prepared to give the greatest gift to Izzy. The surgery day, "New Livermas" was nothing short of a miracle. Despite her young age and limited understanding Izzy was excited for her surgery and the hope of feeling better. Every single day with Isabella is a blessing and she amazes us with her strength and positivity. We know the path ahead is not straightforward but feel so deeply fortunate we get to be in it together.
